Vibrant in flavour and character alike, Habas is the latest restaurant from Simon Shaw and the team behind El Gato Negro and Canto. It brings modern Middle Eastern dining and bar culture to the heart of the city, offering premium drinks, dining and live music until late.
Multi-award-winning chef patron Simon Shaw and his senior sous chef, Craig Rutherford create fresh, bold and exciting modern interpretations of Middle Eastern dishes and flavours. The dishes reflect Simon’s own rich culinary heritage, but are also deeply influenced by the region’s many rich and varied cultures.
Habas has four distinct spaces spread across the former wine cellar of the iconic Manchester Club building. Guests are greeted by the sight of the bar as they step down into the building, and can enjoy a selection of our signature Middle Eastern and classic cocktails, alongside a wide range of premium wines, spirits, and beers.
The main restaurant – based around a spectacular open kitchen – provides a range of seatings options including the ever-popular chef’s table. Guests can enjoy an array of dishes to share, from mezze to larger feast selections, with a strong emphasis on the enjoyment of group dining.
Habas also features a relaxed lounge, featuring live music until late, and a private dining room which can accommodate parties of up to sixteen.
Chef Patron and Creative Director Simon Shaw is a highly respected and accomplished restaurateur with over 35 years in the industry, most notably with his first restaurant, the award-winning El Gato Negro Tapas.
Since opening in 2006, El Gato Negro and Simon have been recognised in multiple industry awards, with El Gato Negro becoming one of the country’s most successful and celebrated modern Spanish restaurants. In September 2018 Simon opened his second restaurant in Manchester, Canto; a neighbourhood restaurant serving modern casual tapas and drinks in Ancoats. El Gato Negro launched at Exchange Flags, Liverpool, in August 2019 and Park Row, Leeds in November 2019.
